However, after some time, it’s expected that your air purifier, not just of Alpine, but any air purifier, will run into some trouble in functioning at a high level over a long period of time. Repair and maintenance is required for your air purifier to be running up to speed always. Here, we will discuss 3 error codes you may have received on you ZL3 Fresh Air Purifier.

The First error code is E001. This means that the ozone plate needs to either be cleaned or replaced. You can visit out FAQ page to check whether or not you need to simply clean/replace the plate by following some quick guidelines recommend by our mechanical and repair team.

The second error code is E002. This means that the UV bulb needs to be replaced. After some time, the UV bulb will usually diet out due to battery lifespan. The bulb is routinely replaced by all users.

The third error code is E003, which means that the back carbon filter needs to be cleaned. Again, after some time, the carbon filter gets filled with bacteria and dust, and accumulation may prevent your unit from operating at full potential. It’s important you do not ignore this aspect of your unit as doing so will result in less efficient sensitization, or your unit may malfunction even.

Alpine Air Purifiers are one of the best purifiers in the market today, however there’s a key to these units performing so well. That key: cleaning and maintenance.

If you’re wondering how to clean your air purifier and maintain its valid warranty status through Alpine Air Technologies, as long as you do not break any part (inside or outside) upon assembly and dis-assembly, your warranty will still be valid. In the event that you break something knowingly or not, it is your responsibility on maintaining your unit and its warranty. In order to not break anything we recommend a brief set of guidelines to follow when cleaning your unit.

First, you want to disassemble the front panel grill by loosening the four screws which hold it to the unit, then removing it. Loosen each screw once at a time evenly so that you don’t unscrew one screw more than the other at any given moment before removing the grill. Next, dismantle the two knobs controlling ionizer/fan/sanitizer on the front of the unit by using the same method. Loosen the screws which hold the knobs with a screwdriver evenly, followed by removing the knobs completely. Then, dismantle the housing. For this, you want to carefully flip the unit upside down and loosen and remove the two bottom screws. Remove the housing and set the unit in an upright position on a hard surface.

Finally, you can clean your air purifier after safely removing the necessary parts mentioned above. As the chassis is exposed and easily accessible, we strongly recommend using a compressed air can to blow away any dust or other particles which may have accumulated within the area or inside the cabinet. You can purchase one of these cans from any local hardware store such as Office Depot, Home Depot, etc. You can also use a dry cloth to wipe out some of the components, however be extra careful while cleaning the machine. After you have cleaned your desired parts, assemble the unit back by following the instructions in reverse.

So you’ve started noticing some issues with your air purifier’s operating system. Either the fan is making some noise, it’s not working up to speed, or it simply doesn’t feel right. Well Alpine Air Technologies is here to help you with this issue! Many of people claim to oil their air purifier’s fan motor to improve the spinning of the blades and keep them going. But this is a huge no! Let us explain.

Oiling the fan not recommended at all, and it is a waste of your time. If your unit has a noise problem, oiling the blades is not the solution. Noise from your unit does not come the blades spinning. Rather it comes from within the fan motor, usually from the worn out bearings. These bearings already have machine oil on it, so adding any more oil will not help the problem. Oiling it can cause other problems with your unit, and you may end up buying a new one.

When a fan blade is making noise, very rarely will lightly oiling the fan motor shaft help the noise issue. This is only if the fan blade makes the noise though, be aware of the difference. Almost every time, the noise from the unit will be coming from the worn out fan motor itself, with the only effective solution is to replace it. This falls true for almost all older air purifiers. If you persist on cleaning your air purifier, the best way we recommend cleaning the fan blade is to wipe it down with a damp cloth, or you can use a compressed air can to dust away any remnants on it. You can buy an air can at any local office supplies store for a cheap cost.

Are you wondering where you should place your unit for the best, effective output?  Generally, you should place the unit in an area and position that will permit the natural airflow within the environment to help in allocating what the air purifier is generating.   Additionally, you should place your air purifier as close as you can to your ceiling as possible.  Usually, five feet off the floor is a good distance for your air purifier to be fully effective.  You can also turn to the owner’s manual for your particular air purifier for further instruction on where you can place it. One place you shouldn’t place your air purifier is any location in or in close proximity to the kitchen.  Kitchens are usually busy often with food being cooked always which tends to have grease molecules, steam/moisture, and other remnants from cooking.  Ultimately, this could lead to the inside of the air purifier becoming contaminated, clogged, and as a result, it won’t be able to perform to the best of its ability.  You shouldn’t place the unit on top of any electrical appliances as well because it may result in interference with the production of negative ions.  An example of a place you should place your air purifier safely is your living room or a similar setting like an office room.  There is natural air flow and the air can easily pass through while the air purifier is on. Another tip you should know is that having you air purifier on while you windows are open is a great plus for having clean air indoors.  Open windows and doors results in enhanced air circulation in your home making the airflow more dynamic.  The better the airflow you can get, the better the air purifier will work.  This is because ozone is picked up naturally by the airflow in your home and thus gets carried quickly throughout your entire living area, giving you the best quality air as achievable. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t have your air purifier on in the winter when it rains and the windows are closed.  You can still use it effectively!  It just means that the airflow is somewhat limited.  In the winter, run the ceiling fans or the heating system if you have either, or even portable fans.  Anything that creates airflow and helps it constantly going will improve the performance of the air purifier and maximize its potential to provide you clean indoor air. If one does not maintain his or her Alpine purifier, he or she may encounter some technical issues subsequently such as a noise problem from the fan motor itself.  That being said, it should be noted that users frequently mistake the fan blade for making the noise rather than the fan motor.  Almost every time, it is the fan motor that has an issue, not the fan blade.  If the fan blade is in fact the issue, and you’re positive of this, you can lightly oil the fan motor shaft only, where the fan blade is sitting on, in order to reduce the noise coming from it.  If you desire to clean the fan blade, you also may wipe it down with some sort of towel, damp or dry.  You can even use an air compressor to dust away any visible dirt you wish to remove.

In the case that the issue is the fan motor, which is almost all of the time, the noise is certainly coming from the used up bearings inside it.  Because the bearings already have enough oil on the inside, so adding oil to them will not help the noise issue of the fan motor, and it may even make it worse.  So what should you do?

The only recommended solution is to swap out the fan motor for a new one.  This will ensure the noise is gone, and your Alpine air purifier will be running effectively and productively yet again.  If you have the 3 year parts and labor warranty, your new fan motor is free of charge!  If this option is not available for you, you can buy a new fan motor from the parts page on Alpine’s website.
